How the year is drawn
Every whole year from your birth year through the latest complete curated year has the same chance. The draw uses the browser's cryptographic random generator on your device. Your approximate age is the drawn year minus your birth year, so it is a life-stage clue rather than an exact age on a particular date.
Why the prompt changes with age
A toddler year and an adult year leave different kinds of evidence. The prompt therefore comes from one of six life-stage bands and asks about sensory details, people, routines, responsibilities, or hindsight appropriate to that stage. It does not claim you must remember anything; family stories, objects, and photographs can also be clues.
What the event list includes—and its boundary
The checked-in chronology contains one concise landmark per year from 1900 through 2025, with a source link and review date. It is a memory bridge, not a complete history or a ranking of what mattered most everywhere. Runtime draws do not fetch the web, store your birth year, upload results, access photos, or create an account history.

How is the year drawn?
Every year from your birth year through 2025 has an equal chance. The selection happens on your device with the browser's secure random generator; if it is unavailable, the tool reports an error instead of using a weaker fallback.
Why is the age approximate?
Only the birth year is entered, so the tool calculates drawn year minus birth year. Before your birthday in that year you would have been one year younger; the number is meant to locate a life stage, not reconstruct an exact date.
Where do the world events come from?
They come from a checked-in curated chronology with one landmark per year, source links, and a review date. The page works offline after loading and does not fetch a changing news feed during a draw.
Is my birth year or result stored?
No. They remain only in the open page's memory. Nothing is written to browser storage, uploaded to a server, put in an account, or taken from your photos or messages. Reloading clears the draw.
Why can I only choose 1900 through 2025?
The lower bound matches the start of the curated event corpus. The upper bound is the latest fully completed and reviewed year, so the current partial year is not mixed into the draw. The range advances only when a complete new year is curated.
Is the event shown the most important thing that happened that year?
No. It is one concise landmark chosen to give your memory a wider time coordinate. A single item cannot represent every region, community, or field, so the chronology does not claim completeness or rank historical importance.
