About Online Poke Box
How the holes are sealed and opened
When a board opens, the tool shuffles the entire pool into the holes with the browser's secure randomness — each item lands in exactly one hole, with no repeats and nothing left out. Poking a hole never rolls the dice again: it simply unseals what was placed there at the start, exactly like a real poke-a-prize box. The paper-break animation is pure ceremony; under reduced-motion settings the hole opens instantly.
When to poke a hole
Poke one for a tiny surprise on a slow afternoon, relive the childhood ritual of the corner-store poke box, or let a hole decide today's small treat. Paste your own prizes — snack picks, mini dares, giveaway items — and hand the phone to friends so everyone pokes their own hole on the spot. One board takes seconds to start and costs nothing.
Privacy
Everything happens in your browser. Custom prize lists live only in the current page and are gone when you leave; nothing is uploaded, stored or tied to an account. Sharing a result card is always your explicit choice.
FAQ
Common questions and answers about this topic.
How do I play the Online Poke Box?
Open the page and a sealed 20-hole board is ready. Tap any hole (or use arrow keys and Enter) to poke it open and reveal its prize; keep poking or press “Seal it back, new board” to reshuffle. No input and no sign-in needed.
When is the result actually decided?
At the moment the board opens. The whole pool is shuffled into the holes with the browser's secure randomness right then, and poking only unseals what is already inside — the animation never changes the outcome. This mirrors how a physical poke box works: the prizes are fixed before anyone pokes.
Can I make a board with my own prizes?
Yes. Open “Make your own board”, paste one prize per line (2 to 40 lines, up to 80 characters each) and open the board — the grid resizes to match your list. Great for snack lotteries, party dares or on-the-spot giveaways.
Can the same prize come out of two holes?
No. A board is a no-replacement draw: every item in the pool is placed into exactly one hole, so nothing repeats and nothing is left out. Two identical lines in a custom list are treated as two separate prizes.
What happens after I open every hole?
The board shows it is complete, and “Seal it back, new board” reshuffles the same pool into a fresh layout — the prizes land in different holes each time. Custom boards reshuffle with your own list kept intact.
Is my custom prize list uploaded anywhere?
No. Custom lists exist only in the current page and disappear when you leave or refresh; they are never uploaded, stored or attached to an account. Result cards are generated locally and shared only when you choose to.
